The helicopter dimensions have been determined in order to allow for transportation of the helicopter in the trailer towed by the truck, while enabling for installation of maximum necessary instrumentation needed for civil certification and the payload of 200 kg and the size of measurement instruments carried.
Determined on the same base as „Dimensions“. MTOW (Maximum take-off weight is the empty weight+fluids+payload).
Yes all measurement instruments are cutting the payload. Only instruments installed into the helicopter on delivery are calculated into the DOM.
Two engines allow the helicopter to be operated in 2nd performance class and certificated as Category A helicopter. This enables for flying over congested areas according to current legislation (helicopter may be used for rescue operations). Besides this, two engines are remarkable safety contribution.
Two co-axial rotors are the most compatible configuration of the helicopter while maintaining the level of safety of operation. It also provides the most effective use of engine power and eliminates the lift differential during the forward flight.
The two-stroke engine is the simpliest type of engine. It is more powerful than a four-stroke engine of the same volume. It is easy to repair and adjust. Most non-sensitive to dust, humidity and dirt.

The endurance has been determined based on the usage requirement, technical possibilities and cost of development. It is temperature, density and altitude dependable.
The HEROS is designed to operate in several atmosphere conditions disregard of visibility, fog, rain, snow, windspeed up to the 30 m/s from any direction, temperatures ranging from -10 to +40 st. C. Modifications may be done in order to provide for cooling/heating as per requirement. Only flights in icing conditions are not possible. The system is not equipped with blades de-icing system.
Yes, it is possible to carry more fuel while decreasing payload at the same time. It can be customized. However, HEROS is tactical aircraft flying in lower altitudes. Long endurance operations are non-practical and improbable.
Yes, the higher the aircraft operates, the more power it needs. More power = higher fuel consumption.
Yes. Hovering is much more power-demanding. More power = higher fuel consumption.
The first helicopter equipped with sense and avoid. The first UAV designed to be civil certificated.Designed in compliance with civil aviation requirements (CS-27, PART 21)
The operational range of the helicopter is more than 200 km in normal conditions. The flight telemetry range is more than 180 km (last modifications to the radio ensures range of 100 km without failures). Video telemetry is 30 km.
The helicopter is built as standard civil manned aircraft, therefore the firearms protection is almost zero. The concept enbales for embedding of bullet-proof pad. However, such change increases the empty weight of the helicopter and decreases the payload.
The ecology is ICAO Annex 16 compliant. The airframe consists of recyclable metal materials or glass fibre. Except of oils, the helicopter does not ecologicaly burden the environment.
According to painting used, the helicopter is almost invisible from the distance of 1500m.
Similarly to the manned rotorcraft. However, we have not heard of any helicopter that encountered such problem.
A special treat by Hanes may be added into the tank, now it is standard explosive.
The helicopter‘s static ceiling is > 1500m a dynamical ceiling >4000m MSA, a ceiling is not limited by the payload.
The ready time in full crew is 20 minutes.
The minimum crew is 2. The UAV operator/engineer, payload operator/driver.Standard crew is 3 (UAV pilot/operator, Payload operator, Engineer/Driver). An extra person-data analytic is permissible. Ll three workstations in the GCS may be seated even during driving the truck.
The noise is 83dB in the distance of 20 m. The most noisy system on helicopters generally is the tail rotor, that is not found on HEROS..
The container dimensions are 48x110x55cm, installation of payload is done by AEROS according to the customer‘s wish. Except for the cargo, where the PIC is responsible for the load.
The possibility to install any instrument that can be fitted into the container compartment, able to operate on electrical system of 12V/10A and attachable to on-board electric power supply, with maximum weight of 200 kg. A list of containers we already have or are planning to use can be found et the end of this presentation.
Except of a) and b), following instruments can not be fitted onto small UAVs due to their dimensions or high energy demands.
a) RGB camera
b) IR camera
c) Geophysical camera
d) Multispectral camera
e) Hyperspectral scanner
f) Radiation detector
g) Pollution detector
h) Explosives detector
i) Radio jammer
j) Radio signal retranslation equipment
k) Cooling box for human organs
l) Hoist / Rescue set
> 5m/s at Sea Level
Not determined yet. The life-cycle will be set accroding to the fatigue-tests results. However, the maintenance wil be based on system of 25, 50, 100 hrs checks with GO of the main gear each 500 hrs.
Maintenance will be carried out by AEROS or by authorized maintenance centre. Maintenance will be carried out by changing the blocks and components will be sent to the AEROS for ouverhaul.
As soon as any malfunction an its scope is recognized by the system, the emergency scenario is selected accordingly by the system, that will lead the system safely to the ground. According to the situation and location the autorotation, safety landing or BRS may be choosed. A emergenc signal is transmitted after such landing allowing for fast location of the ship. Alternatively, the self-destruction is activated for military versions.
All radio channels are encrypted on both the HW and SW level and second independent channel serves as a back-up channel.
According to the TS, the helicopter may be handed-over between several compatible GCSs. However, one GSC may control only one UA at a time, but may switch between several UAs during one mission. This enables permanent liaison with the UA even whet out of range of one GCS.
The sense and avoid system onboard of HEROS ensures for detection of objects with minimum dimension of 100 cm for the distance > 1500m and ensures for detection of 1cm objects up to 250 m what gives enough time to react even at maximum speed.
The technical solution is unique by its conception, universality and safety attitude, which is also a motto of the project. The project takes advantage of broad experience of specialists in mechanics, rotor dynamics, software engineers, robotics and artificial intelligence. Integration of all these parts gives us the intelligent robotics systém with ability to learn.
Nowdays, despite of several workgroups, we are in very close relation with the EASA (Ricardo Frollo namely). EASA is looking forward to start certificating this project and to determine rules for civil UAV The ÚCL has been assigned, as a local CAA, to supervise the project and its certification.
A back-up of the system is embedded into it by its design. It consists of several independent modules, where the failure of one module will not cauce the system collapse, however, the quality of detection will be decreased.
Yes. A 200l fuel tank is a part of the trailer.
